Argon in the Atmosphere in Cincinnati

It is well known that the air on Earth is made up of multiple gases, oxygen and nitrogen being the two major gases. Yet Argon is another gas that although does not have as high of a concentration in the atmosphere, has shown itself to be equally important across multiple industries.

Argon is an inactive, monochrome and odorless gas that only makes up about 1% of the Earth’s atmosphere. Although this gas is limited in quantity, it is used throughout various trades. In museums, Argon has traditionally been used for historic preservation. Historically important items, including the Declaration of Independence and the Magna Carta, are conserved using Argon. Unlike Oxygen, Argon does not disintegrate the paper or ink of these, especially delicate records. Argon is also used as a gas shield in the welding industry for arc welding.

Given the many uses for this gas, there remains a continuous demand for the substance. Because of this, specialty gases like Argon are on average sold in smaller quantities and vessels.

PurityPlus carries only the purest of Argon and a range of other specialty gases. Visit our contact us page to learn more on the specialty gases we provide in Cincinnati.
